Doing Something Worthwhile

We are often led to believe that we are limited to certain destinations in life. Not so!

The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will.

Real joy comes not from ease or riches or from the praise of men, but from doing something worthwhile.

"The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; therefore, my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise Him." (Psalm 28:7)

Concentration on Goals

Everyone is beginning together. The 1993 journey is underway.

Many will falter and fail during the year - some early, others later. Some will succeed! Meet their personal goals and objectives.

What makes the difference?

I read the following quote which I think is the answer to the question,

"Singleness of purpose is the essential factor in greatness - for the man of genius differs from ordinary men, not in the innate quality of the brain, but in the aims and purposes on which he concentrates and in the degree of concentration which he manages to achieve."

Steps to Success

Local government agencies and area Chamber of Commerce are quick to provide visitors with places to go and thing to do in their location.

Five steps to success:

1. Focus on possibilities, not obstacles.
2. Allow desire to guide you, rather than self-imposed limits.
3. Act as if your success is certain.
4. Have a crystal clear picture of what you want to accomplish.
5. Get out of your own way.

Have a good day!

Dad

Think of our Founding Fathers in light of these steps. They thought of the possibility of freedom from royal subjection, despite the obstacle of royal subjection. They allowed desire for freedom to guide them, rather than limits imposed by the real threat of death for treason. They fought on the battlefield as though their success was certain (by the powerful grace of God), while all military scholars will tell you that they had no chance for success against the British powerhouse. They had a crystal clear picture of the freedom to govern, worship, ownership, taxation and much more. They had to allow the bigger picture of the United States of America to reign in their minds and hearts, and get of their own way of hindrances brought on by their fear of retribution. These are such important characteristics of success. Do we as a nation still exemplify them? I pray to God that we do.

Champions

The true make up of a champion is the ability to get up after falling.

We should never judge or be judged by the number of times one fails, but by the number of times one succeeds. The number of times one succeeds is in direct proportion to the number of times one can fail and keep on trying.

Anything worth doing is worth doing right and continue doing it.

Have the spirit of a champion!

Have a good day!

"Like success, failure is many things to many people. With Positive Mental Attitude, failure is a learning experience, a rung on the ladder, a plateau at which to get your thoughts in order and prepare to try again." W. Clement Stone (1902-2002; entrepeneur, philanthropist, optimist)

"Things will go wrong at times. You can't always control your attitude, approach, and response. Your options are to complain or to look ahead and figure out how to make the situation better" Tony Dungy (Indianapolis Colts football coach)

Apply Yourself

Hope that you had an enjoyable weekend.

Doesn't it seem that the clock slows down Monday through Friday and speeds up right after school on Friday throughout the entire weekend?

Hope that you have a great week. Much success is waiting if you apply yourself!

Have a good day!

Dad

Regarding the book of Ruth:
"Manythings besides may be learnt from this little book, as the different circumstances of good people in this life, and the particular providence of God respecting them. It furnishes out examples of bearing afflictions patiently, of industry, courteousness, kindness to strangers, and young converts; and none can doubt of the divine authority of this book, that considers the use made of it in the genealogies of Christ..." from John Gill (1697-1771)

"Naomi and Ruth came to Bethlehem in the beginning of the barley harvest season. It was the custom to allow poor people and those without support to follow the reapers in the field and pick up what they had left. Ruth went out to glean in the fields; and by God's providence she gleaned in the field of Boaz, Naomi's near kinsman (2:1). Boaz took notice of Ruth, had compassion on her, instructed her to glean in his field, and told the reapers to let fall some 'handfuls of purpose' (2:16) for her. This world belongs to the Lord Jesus. It is his by design, by decree, and by death (Col. 1:16-17; John 3:35; Rom. 14:9; John 17:2). We live and glean in his field. The Lord Jesus in grace and love has taken notice of some of Adam's race. He knew us though we knew him not; He loved us though we did not love him; and by his handfuls of purpose, we have lived and prospered to this day. God takes care of his own even in their days of unbelief... Read in Ruth 3:1-7 how Ruth humbled herself at the feet of Boaz, seeking his mercy, as we lie at the feet of Christ, for he owes us nothing. Read in Ruth 3:10-11 how Boaz accepts her whom he already loved, even as we are accepted in the Beloved upon evidence of humility and faith. Read how Boaz married Ruth and all of his wealth and name became hers, even as we are married to Christ and are joint-heirs with him because we are his and wear his name. The pagan girl became the wife of Boaz, the great-grandmother of King David, and stood in the lineage of Christ - all of grace!" an excerpt from "The Works of Henry Mahan, Volume 1."
